Our Story

Maple Springs Farm is not only our home and business, it is the product of years of family history, hard work, and unwavering commitment to our equines.

My grandmother and her trusty steed, Pokey, paved the foundations of where we are today. My mother later followed with the establishment of her farm, Dogwoods Springs Farm, in Trinity County CA.

A place of sweltering but comforting Summers, where the colorfully shedding madrone coats the dusty ground. A place with crisp aired Falls, where the leafs of the oak begin to dance through sky. A place with sharp cold, but scenic Winters.

And lastly, a place with glimmering green Springs, where the birds hold a chorus to surround the flowering dogwood.

All the while horses dot the background of these scenes. They are what tie the final image of our past, present, and future together.

A group of 3 horses remain of the original herd that began 20 years ago on this farm.

Jake, a quarter pony renowned for his cuddley nature and adorkable presence, aged 25 years old.

Janet’s Kiowa Spirit, a Morgan Arabian named in honor of my godmother and his sire. Known for his rambunctious attitude and questionable intelligence. Aged 20 years old and offspring of the horse to follow in introduction.

Kiowa Chief, a Morgan Arabian with a long deep rooted history. Known for his stern determination to chase life full force. Fueled by the mountain spring water of eternal youth, he has galavanted upon this earth for 42 years.

These 3 horses followed us to our new home to continue their adventurous journey.

A home of storm seeped Winters, where all seek comforting shelter. A home of lushly endowed Springs filled with color. A home of gentle, mild Summers where the redwoods sway in the coastal breeze.

A home with calm soothing Falls where the maples let their leafs drift in a twirling dance through the air.

A home that’s branched from dogwood filled mountains, to maple covered forests of the coast.

And lastly, a home that still holds the horses of years past.

Of one of these horses stands awaiting, in towering redwoods, of a day that inevitably approaches.

There was once a time he traversed what seemed to be endless miles of trails from sunrise to sunset.

Now, only the need and ability to traverse the time of one sunrise or sunset remains.

A day lays ahead that ends in his rest. A rest he will not rouse from the next morning. But, his memory will, and it will forever remain awake.

This horse is Chief, who now forever silhouettes the logo you see before you. If not for him, our current present would not exist.

The horses of our past are the foundation to the horses of our future.

This new logo and name is not just a picture to market my business.

It represents a history. A history of mountain springs that support the life of our horses, that then shape the perspective of our mission.

Which now signifies our future and dedication to you.
